Common Conditions Service
The HSE Common Conditions Service allows pharmacists to provide advice for some common health conditions and, where appropriate, prescribe treatment. Eligibility depends on the condition and the person being assessed.

- Walk into a participating pharmacy — no appointment needed at most stores.
- The pharmacist assesses your symptoms in a private consultation.
- Where the guidelines allow, the pharmacist recommends treatment or prescribes medicine on the spot.
- If your condition needs a doctor instead, the pharmacist will tell you and point you to a GP or out-of-hours service.
Not every pharmacy offers the service yet — check the conditions below for participating locations near you. A consultation fee applies to everyone, including medical card holders, and is set by each pharmacy — ask when you call.
